opening reception at basia embiricos gallery, paris

many thanks to everyone who came by last night to inaugurate the show. my special thanks to the team of photo 12 agency: valerie-anne (for making it possible), aline (you’re the best!) and claudine (for being there when we needed you the most), saskia (for running the bar); the team of basia embiricos gallery: the one and only basia, jeremy (for your helping hand!), roseline and valentine; and nico lo calzo for taking some of the photos of this memorable event. our special thanks to sylvain orebi, ceo of kusmi tea (the greatest russian tea in the world) and a. de fussigny (fantastic xo cognac) for helping us keep warm at the cocktail! friends new and not so new, and those who wanted but didn’t make it to the opening due to different reasons, i love you all! the exhibition runs through may 16, 2010.

to celebrate my solo exhibition “the house of baba yaga” at basia embiricos gallery in paris on may 4-16, 2010 i have put together an artist’s book of mine. the general title is “why was i born in russia”. under three sections : myth , reality and fiction i published four russian series of photos: (1) the house of baba yaga (2) grodekovo (3) dora, and (4) the deleted scene. the format of the book is 17 cm x 17 cm, soft cover, 80 pages. if you are interested in acquiring a copy (yeah, i am saving for a trip to new york :), please feel free to contact me at [info @ toroptsov . com] or you can preview and order it online directly by clicking here. thank you!
